For some reason that I could never explain, I had a sudden compulsion to sew. I purchased a sewing maching for $100.00 and made my first quilt. I was changing jobs and leaving one that required wearing a tie every day to one that did not. In 2001, using those ties, I made my first memory quilt. It would be quite a few years later that people started asking me to make quilts out of their child's t-shirts and so the story continues.

A Memorable Story
I love stories. Whether a child's book, a novel, or a movie; I just really enjoy following a good story. But my favorite stories are the ones told by people. And that is why I make memory quilts.
The t-shirts in my quilts preserve the stories of families through the child's activities while growing up. Sometimes for over a decade! When the quilt is brought out, the family will retell their memories from that school or the friends that they first made at that camp. And whenever that quilt is brought out, the stories will continue to be retold to the next generation.
